EASTER AT BLOOMFIELD!

The Easter season is the most wonderful time of the year for us as Christians! We celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ from the dead, and rejoice in all that this means for us. We invite you to join with us for these special events during Holy Week:

PALM SUNDAY (APRIL 1)

Jesus made His triumphant entry into Jerusalem on the Sunday before Easter. The crowds hailed Him as their Messiah and waved palm branches before Him as He came into the city on the back of a young donkey. This is a joyous day, on which we, too, proclaim that Jesus Christ is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Join us for our morning worship service at 10:30 A.M..

MAUNDY THURSDAY (APRIL 5)

While He was celebrating the Passover with His disciples, Jesus told them, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." (John 13:34-35, NIV). The early church called the Thursday before Easter "Dies Mandati," Latin for Day of the Mandate, in honor of this command of love, and this is where we get the name Maundy Thursday. This is when Jesus instituted the Lord's Supper as a symbol of His body being broken for us and His blood being shed for us. He told us to do this often, in remembrance of Him, We will gather on Thursday, April 13at 7:00 P.M. to observe the Lord's Supper as our ancestors did. We will gather around tables in the center aisle to receive communion together. We invite all who have put their faith in Jesus Christ to join with us at the Lord's Table.

GOOD FRIDAY (APRIL 6)

Jesus was arrested, tried three times and then sentenced to death. He carried His own cross to the hill called Golgotha, the place of the skull, where He was nailed to the cross along with two thieves. There He bled and died so that we can be forgiven for our sins through His sacrifice. This is why we call this day Good Friday- while it was a horrible day for Jesus, for us it was the day He bought our salvation. The New Concord Ministerial Association will hold a Community Good Friday Service on Friday, April 14from 12:00 Noon to 12:45 P.M. at the New Concord United Methodist Church. Join us as we meditate upon the great price that God paid to redeem us from our sin.

The Bloomfield Church is please to be host to this year's Community Easter Cantata at 7:00 P.M.. The reception will be held first with the cantata following, so that we may leave in silence and meditate upon God's wondrous love for us as shown in the cross of Christ.

EASTER SUNDAY (APRIL 8)

Christ is risen! We join with Christians from all the ages in proclaiming this powerful truth as we gather at 10:30 A.M. on Easter Sunday to praise Jesus Christ, who was dead but is now alive forevermore. With all our hearts we invite you to join with us on this special day.

Because He Lives

Words and Music by William J. Gaither, 1971

God sent His Son, They called Him Jesus;

He came to love, heal and forgive;

He bled and died to buy my pardon,

An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives.

Chorus:

Because He lives I can face tomorrow;

Because He lives all fear is gone;

Because I know He holds the future,

And life is worth the living just because He lives.
