IN MEMORIAM: HELEN A. TAYLOR

March 25, 1917 - August 5, 2003

NEW CONCORD -- Helen Audrey Reasoner Taylor, 86, died at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, August.5, 2003, at Genesis Bethesda Hospital.

She was born March 25, 1917, in Guernsey County, to Ora Belle Williams Reasoner and Harry Earl Reasoner.

She graduated from Pike Grade School, Guernsey County, Stormont High School, New Concord and Cambridge Business College, Cambridge.

In June 1937, she was married to Wilmer B. Taylor, who preceded her in death in April, 1983.

To this union was born Nancy D. Taylor Mount Bumpus of Titusville, Fla.; Robert (Rap) L. (Mary) Taylor of Stevens Point, Wisc.; John (Jack) R. Taylor, who preceded her in death; and Gary D. (Lianne) Taylor of Wenatchee, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was active in PTA and home and school. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Clubs of Guernsey County, being president one year in the 1960s. She was a member of the Bloomfield Presbyterian Church, a member of New Concord Eastern Star Concordia Chapter 493, being worthy matron in 1966. She was also a member of the Guernsey County Genealogical Society. She and her husband were active in four area coin clubs. She was the first woman president of the Cambridge Coin Club in the 1960s. They raised Christmas trees and sold trees retail and wholesale. She was well known for her cemetery blankets and the business, Guernsey County Evergreens. Helen and Wilmer retired to Florida in the late 1970s. Helen returned to New Concord in the fall of 1999 to live out her years with cherished friends and family.

Visitation was 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mock-Miller Funeral Home, 63 W. Main St., New Concord.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bloomfield Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Martin Radcliff officiating. Burial was in Bloomfield Cemetery.

Helen married Wilmer Taylor in 1937. They shared forty-five years together.
